Youth Development

The Youth Development program of Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties provides applied research, outreach and leadership through the development of educational programs and by serving as an educational resource in areas of importance to the local community.

Currently the youth development program is focused on two initiative areas:

Initiative 1: Developing educational programs and conducting applied research for youth in science, technology, environmental stewardship and natural resource education.

Programs addressing initiative one include: 

National Partnership for After School Science Project

Experiential Learning Training and Design

Santa Cruz County Education and Research Garden

California 4-H Science, Engineering and Technology Initiative 

Initiative 2: Serve as an educational resource and conduct applied research by providing local leadership and knowledge of youth development, through collaboration with local youth and community groups.

Afterschool Workgroup Life Skills Research Project: Bridging Life and Academic Skills in After-school Programs
